The Education Bureau prepares an annual plan (in accordance with the Persian Calendar) and a seasonal plan which covers each three-month period for environmental education, in cooperation with the Public Participation Bureau.
The national level annual plans for environmental education are informed to all the divisions in DoE and their provincial offices.
Each provincial office has their own plan for environmental education at the provincial level.
The Education Bureau sets specific themes of environmental education for a seasonal plan to generate awareness on specific issues; for instance, the seasonal plan from January to March 2018 features the theme of "zero-waste", with the intent to raise awareness about waste reduction.
In coastal provinces, the Division for Marine Environment also coordinates environmental education and awareness.
